dramatic changes with custom code window glazing layers as only difference

Have you ever run into the TEDI or ‘% better than’ changing dramatically depending on how many layers of glazing you’ve chosen in a custom code (even though the U value and SHGC are the same for both custom codes)?

    i.e. U 1.2, SHGC 0.3

    double pane vs triple pane.

Models will turn out quite different.

    Doesn’t this seem odd?

Windows have a major impact on most things.  We currently have a window working group to try and help sort this out.

Are you saying the U value and SHGC remain the same when going from dual to triple?   If the same LowE coatings are used there would be little change in SHGC between dual and triple.  But there would be dramatic change in U value.  For example a dual glazed using one LowE versus a triple glazed using same one LowE would have very different U value but very similar SHGC.  If they show same U value there is an error in system somewhere.

The custom code entry is a manual creation of a component and requires the U value to be entered by the user. It does not adjust it based on the glazing selection.
But, theoretically, I also wouldn't discount the possibility of very poorly made triple having a similar U value to a high end well made double.
