Crawl Space - Insulation configuration clarification relative to slab

Looking for a little clarification re: crawl space configurations and confirmation of assumptions.

Scenario:  3'10" crawlspace, 1' above grade, balance below, slab uninsulated with a 2' frost line.

    • SCN_7:  Skirt extends BELOW footing a min 2' below slab
    • SCN_3:  Skirt does not extend below footing, however skirt is below slab less than 2'
If footing is >2' below slab, and foundation wall is insulated, my expectation is that it is SCN_7

My expectation is that the difference between these two selectors is the distance insulation extends below slab, regardless of grade (which is triggered by "floor above/below frostline".

Crawlspace selection is an interesting one.  Might need a little more detail as to what you have above grade in terms of walls.  Are there any other foundations attached?  Are you doing this for an existing home, a new home, incentive for improvement, label?

Crawlspaces do have a certain unclarity to them and in my opinion can come down to which one an EA finds most appropriate.

To work within the system I try to select what is most appropriate to the actual. But in the event of an existing evaluation I select what it could be (with R0 where applicable) in an upgrade (E) to avoid having to later update the D.
