CACEA is pleased to facilitate discussion about how duct flow testing contributes to heat pump sizing and selection; and how energy advisors (EA) can play a pivotal role in this new market offering.

The event will kick off with a panel discussion with select industry stakeholders who will share their perspective of current heat pump sizing challenges and opportunities in the Part 9 residential sector – in particular, the retrofit to heat pump systems.

Panelist:

  • Steve Baden, RESNET
  • Ryan Coleman, Ecolighten Energy Solutions Ltd.
  • Gary Hamer, BC Hydro
  • Chris Higgins, City of Vancouver
  • Jérémie Leger, Natural Resources Canada.

Following the panel discussion, Mark Rosen MEA with Building Knowledge Canada and CACEA's project manager will provide a report on CACEA’s research project funded by Natural Resources Canada about assessing, evaluating, and analysing duct systems and their air flow and static pressure in houses across Canada. The discussion will also address lessons learned from trialing this new testing procedure using EAs in the field.

Finally, Mark Rosen will facilitate an interactive discussion with three of the Duct Flow EAs project participants. They will each share their perspective on the future benefits and opportunities for EAs performing duct flow testing for the home building and renovation industry.
