Residential energy advisors and code compliance consultants share their thoughts

The Ontario Ministry of Municipal affairs and Housing has engaged with all stakeholders seeking feedback on proposed changes to harmonize Ontario building code (currently SB12 2017) with the new NBC 2020 9.36 Tiered energy code.

This information and roundtable discussion will help to unpack the proposed changes to the building code and how they may impact the building community including building officials, municipalities , developers, homebuilders and other key Ontario stakeholders.

This discussion, facilitated by CACEA board member Andy Oding, Vice President of Building Knowledge Canada will include:

  • Brief overview of NEW energy benchmarks and targets associated with the NBC 2020 9.36
  • Panel discussion identifying challenges and opportunities with the proposed changes- with CACEA members and experienced registered energy advisors and building code consultants: Angela Bustamante, Dave Potter, Jack Zhou, Mark Rosen, Miyoko Oikawa, 
  • The role of CACEA and registered Energy Advisors assisting with energy  code compliance in Ontario and across other Provinces, Territories and Municipalities.
